Former Pakistan pacer turned Afghanistan coach Umar Gul is saddened about the Afghan team being knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2022 after giving their best throughout the tournament.

Afghanistan performed tremendously in its last group match against the defending champions, Australia. Umar Gul was quite happy with the performance of the young Afghan pacers, not just against the Aussies but during the whole tournament.

Naveen ul Haq took three wickets in his four-over spell, which included the wicket of the dangerous batter David Warner, who got bowled out while trying to play a reverse sweep shot.

This tournament was a winless campaign for the Afghan team, with two games washed out due to rain.

The Afghan coach praised the young pace attack for their excellent bowling and tweeted on his social media account.

Gutted to be out of the worldcup but some of our matches got washed out while in others we couldnt deliver. Im still very happy with the progress that my fast bowlers have been making. InshaAllah we will come back stronger.@ACBofficials #ICCT20WorldCup2022

It is noted that Afghanistan lost their last match against Australia by just four runs, and all-rounder Rashid Khan smacked 23-ball 48 runs, including three fours and four massive sixes.
