Usama Mir added 11 runs from eight deliveries to the Originals' total
Pakistan cricketer Usama Mir's valiant effort falls short as Southern Brave beat Manchester Originals by seven wickets in The Hundred Men's competition 2024 on August 1.
Manchester Originals, asked to bat first, posted a total of 116 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 100 balls. Wayne Madsen stood out with the bat, scoring 43 runs from 37 balls, including four boundaries. Jamie Overton also made a notable contribution with 25 runs from 19 balls, featuring two fours and a six.
Usama Mir added 11 runs from eight deliveries to the Originals' total, hitting two boundaries before being dismissed hit-wicket off Jordan's delivery.
In their chase, Southern Brave made light work of the target, reaching it with 22 balls to spare and only losing three wickets. Laurie Evans played a crucial role, remaining unbeaten on 25 from 15 balls, which included two fours and a six.
Alex Davies (24), James Vince (20), and Leus du Plooy (21) also made significant contributions to ensure a comfortable victory.
Although Usama Mir's efforts with the ball included dismissing Southern Brave's skipper James Vince for 20 runs and took the only wicket in his 15-ball spell while conceding just 10 runs, it wasn't enough to secure a victory for his team.
