Multan Sultans’ wicketkeeper-batter Usman Khan on Thursday expressed his ambition to become the first player to score a double century in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), as the tournament’s 10th edition begins today.

Usman, who holds the record for the fastest century in PSL history, said he is aiming for a new milestone in this year’s tournament.

“I want to score a double century in this year’s PSL and will perform well for the team,” he said in an interview.

The right-handed batter also addressed Multan Sultans’ recent struggles in finals, having finished as runners-up in the last three editions.

“We have worked hard for PSL 10. Our effort will be to play normal cricket and perform well for the team. In the last three seasons, we lost the final, but this time the goal is to win it,” he added.

Usman shared that captain Mohammad Rizwan has urged the squad to stay composed under pressure.

“Rizwan told us to play pressure-free and normal cricket,” he added.

The 29-year-old credited the team’s depth in local and emerging talent as a key advantage and stressed the importance of early momentum.

“Finding the right combination early and sticking with it will be vital for success,” he further added.

Commenting on his international journey, Usman reflected on his decision to switch allegiance from UAE to Pakistan.

“Many told me I made a mistake, but I sacrificed for my dream. By Allah’s grace, I got the chance to represent Pakistan,” he concluded.

Looking ahead to PSL 10, Usman noted the growing challenge of adapting to the fast-paced nature of the modern game. He stated that he aims to adopt an aggressive approach both during the powerplay and middle overs.
