Pakistan leg-spinner Usman Qadir said that he is looking forward to do well in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia as he has vast experience of playing in those conditions.

The 28-year-old, before making his debut for Pakistan, had played in Australia for many years. He represented Adelaide Cricket Club in South Australia in the 2012–13 season. He featured for Perth Scorchers in Big Bash League (BBL) too.

Qadir made his debut for Western Australia against Victoria in the 2018-19 One-Day Cup and also cited his intentions to gain Australian citizenship and represent Australia.

The notion of him playing for Australia was dismissed after Babar Azam took charge as captain of Pakistan's T20 side. He became a part of the squad in 2019 Australia tour and made his debut in the following year in the home series against Zimbabwe.

“Playing World Cup in Australia will benefit Pakistan as our players regularly go there,” said Qadir in an exclusive interview with a local news channel.

“If I get the opportunity to play, I will try to perform to the best of my ability. I have played in Australia in the past so I understand the pitches quite well,” he added.

It must be noted that Qadir has featured in 18 T20Is and an ODI for the Men in Green where he has bagged 25 wickets.
