The 2025 Asia Cup is likely to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with the high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan expected to take place on September 7 in Dubai, according to Indian media reports.

The tournament — which will be played in the T20 format — is scheduled to start around September 4 or 5 and conclude by September 21. An official schedule is expected to be released in the second week of July.

This will be the 17th edition of the Asia Cup and will follow a familiar structure, beginning with a group stage followed by a Super Four round. The six participating teams are India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and the UAE.

There is a strong chance that India and Pakistan could meet twice during the tournament — once in the group stage and possibly again in the Super Four, depending on their progression. They could also face each other in the final if both teams make it that far.

Promotional content for the tournament has already started airing on Indian television and circulating on social media, indicating preparations are well underway.

Earlier reports had raised concerns about India’s participation due to political tensions, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has dismissed those claims. According to reports, there is no official directive from either cricket board to avoid contests between the two rivals in ICC or Asia Cup events.

It’s worth noting that India are the defending champions, having won the previous edition — held in the ODI format — by defeating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the final.
