Pakistan's dressing room applauded with huge cheers after opener Imam-ul-Haq reached his maiden century in Test cricket at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in the first Test against Australia.

The 26-year-old is making his comeback in the longest format of the game. He last appeared for Pakistan in Test cricket in November 2019 at Adelaide Oval against Australia.

The left-hander got his chance as the regular opener for the historic series after Abid Ali didn't make it into the Test side. He was diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome in December 2021.

Meanwhile, Imam took 22 innings to cross the three-figure mark and before this knock, he had only scored three fifties.

He started his innings cautiously against the new ball and gradually gained momentum as his innings progressed. Finally, he completed his century on 200 balls, including 13 boundaries and two sixes.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared video of the dressing room where Babar Azam and his men were delighted with the achievement of the opening batter and gave a standing ovation.
