Star Indian batter Virat Kohli reached a major milestone in T20 cricket during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) IPL 2025 match against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Sunday.

Kohli became only the second player in T20 history—and the first Indian—to score 100 half-centuries. He achieved this feat in his 405th T20 match, showing once again why he is considered one of the most consistent batters in the world.

Australia’s David Warner remains at the top with 108 T20 fifties in 400 matches, while Kohli now follows with 100 in 405 games. Pakistan's Babar Azam (90 fifties), West Indies legend Chris Gayle (88), and England’s Jos Buttler (86) complete the top five.

Most fifties in T20 cricket:

  • David Warner – 108 fifties (400 matches)
  • Virat Kohli – 100 fifties (405 matches)
  • Babar Azam – 90 fifties (311 matches)
  • Chris Gayle – 88 fifties (463 matches)
  • Jos Buttler – 86 fifties (440 matches)

Kohli’s latest fifty also marked his 58th in the IPL. He now shares the record for the most 50+ scores in IPL history with Warner—both standing at 66.

Warner has scored 62 fifties and four centuries in 184 IPL matches for Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Kohli, on the other hand, has eight centuries and 58 fifties in 258 matches for RCB.

Most 50+ scores in IPL:

  • Virat Kohli (RCB) – 66
  • David Warner (DC/SRH) – 66
  • Shikhar Dhawan (MI/DC/Deccan Chargers/SRH/PBKS) – 53
  • Rohit Sharma (Deccan Chargers/MI) – 45
  • KL Rahul (RCB/SRH/PBKS/LSG) – 43
  • AB de Villiers (DC/RCB) – 43

In this IPL season, Kohli has shown strong form. He began with an unbeaten 59 against Kolkata Knight Riders, followed by 31 against Chennai Super Kings. After a low score of 7 against Gujarat Titans, he bounced back with a solid 67 versus Mumbai Indians and added 22 runs in his most recent outing against Delhi Capitals.
