Former Indian captain Virat Kohli is likely to travel Zimbabwe with the side and feature in ODI series, scheduled next month.

The 33-year-old is enjoying a break from the game and he has travelled to Paris with his wife Anushka Sharma and daughter Vamika to shift his focus away from the game and relax.

He has been going through a lean patch across formats and probably for the first time in his career, people are calling for his ouster from the Indian team.

Kohli played all three formats in England but failed to put up a noteworthy performance. He scored just 76 across all the five matches that he played in England at a dismal average of 12.66. He is also not part of the white-ball series in West Indies

However, a new report has emerged where a member of the selection committee has stated that the selectors want Kohli to travel with the team for their tour of Zimbabwe to regain his form before the Asia Cup.

“Hopefully, the break allows him to rejuvenate mentally and get his form back. But without any competitive cricket, it will be difficult and that is why we want him to play against Zimbabwe. It’s his preferred format and will help him regain his form before the Asia Cup. We will take a final decision close to the selection,” a member of the selection committee told InsideSport.

Fans have been waiting for a Virat Kohli century since November 2019 but the batter has just not been able to convert starts into a big score.

Not just fans, even the BCCI looks worried for their star player and that is why they want him to play against a weaker opposition as compared to the ones he has faced recently to find his mojo back and get back to what he does best, dominating world cricket.
