Indian batter Virat Kohli is on the brink of making history in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final against New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Kohli, who has already scored a century and a match-winning fifty in the tournament, is now closing in on another record. If he manages to score 55 runs in the match, he will surpass Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara to become the second-highest run-scorer in ODI history.

Currently, Kohli has accumulated 14,180 runs in 301 ODIs, while Sangakkara has 14,234 runs from 404 matches. The only player ahead of both of them is the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who holds the record with 18,426 runs.
