The issue stems from an earlier incident when Usama Mir was not selected for Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad
Former Pakistan team selector Wahab Riaz has openly criticized Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Director Usman Wahla for mishandling the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for players.
Riaz specifically pointed out that leg-spinner Usama Mir struggled to get a response from Wahla, despite multiple attempts to contact him regarding his NOC.
According to Riaz, Usama Mir made several efforts to reach out to Wahla, but his requests were ignored. Riaz stated, "Usman Wahla overlooked Usama Mir’s request."
However, Wahla has denied these claims, saying, "I have spoken to Usama Mir about this matter. These one-sided accusations are not accurate."
Despite Wahla’s denial, Riaz stood firm on his accusations and even threatened to release evidence.
"Screenshots and emails don’t lie. I will reveal the full story. I have a lot to say, but I only answered the question that was asked. If anyone denies this, I will provide all the evidence," Riaz said.
The issue stems from an earlier incident when Usama Mir was not selected for Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad. Following his omission, Mir reportedly messaged PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi directly, highlighting his strong performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he took the most wickets during season nine.
Mir also requested permission to play in an England competition, which the PCB initially agreed to, saying they would issue a NOC. However, after traveling to England, the leg-spinner was left without the necessary clearance to participate.
