Former Pakistan fast-bowler Waqar Younis believes that the revamped domestic structure is going to be beneficial for the country's cricket.

While talking during a show on a local news channel, Younis said that the change in domestic cricket structure will help cricketers in the long run.

"I sympathise with some of the cricketers but I'm confident that players will go on to earn handsome amounts since PCB is going to invest heavily to make the new system work," said Waqar. "Six teams setup will improve fitness of players and produce quality cricketers. In the long run, cricket in the country will improve because of this decision."

Waqar also spoke about the importance of increasing improving coaching standards at lower levels.

"I think it is important to increase investment on coaches in lower level cricket because that is the breeding ground for young talent. Currently the salaries of coaches there is quite low as compared to what international coaches are paid," he said.
