The 47-year-old’s last stint as Men in Green’s head coach was from May 2014 to April 2016

Former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis has also thrown his hat in the ring to be the next Men in Green’s bowling coach.

According to sources, the former captain formally submitted his request on Thursday, to be considered for the post.

Surprisingly, Waqar only applied for the bowling coach role despite having previously served as the head coach of the Pakistan side on two separate occasions.

The 47-year-old’s last stint as Men in Green’s head coach was from May 2014 to April 2016, after which he was replaced by the South African Mickey Arthur.

It must be noted that, earlier, Cricket Pakistan reported that former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Akram is the top contender for the bowling coach position of the Men in Green.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently decided against renewing Azhar Mahmood’s contract as bowling coach and invited high level applications for the vacant post till August 26.
