Former Pakistan pacer Tanveer Ahmed has sharply criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) decision to appoint the legendary pacer and former coach Waqar Younis.

Waqar is set to be appointed as an advisor to the PCB chairman, Mohsin, starting August 1, 2024.

In this role, Waqar will report directly to the chairman and oversee both the red-ball and white-ball teams. The current head coaches, Gary Kirsten (white-ball) and Jason Gillespie (red-ball), will report to Waqar.

Following the announcement of Waqar’s appointment, Tanveer Ahmed took to social media to express his disapproval.

He described Waqar’s appointment as the worst decision in the history of Pakistan cricket.

On the platform X, Tanveer posted: “Waqar Younis ko cricket board main job dena meri nazar main history ka sab say worst decision hain. (Appointing Waqar Younis to a role in the board is, in my view, the worst decision in the history of cricket.”

Additionally, Waqar will coordinate with the Pakistan selection committee, which has recently come under scrutiny.
