Former Pakistan cricket captain Waqar Younis has begun his role as Adviser for Cricket Affairs to the PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi.

Naqvi has tasked Younis with managing cricket-related matters, starting with the upcoming series against Bangladesh.

Younis will work closely with selectors and coaches to prepare for the Test series, which is set to begin on August 21.

While Younis focuses on cricket matters, Naqvi will continue to handle the administrative responsibilities of the cricket board.

As the Interior Minister, Naqvi has handed over cricket affairs to Younis, believing that a cricketer should oversee cricket-related matters.

Naqvi’s primary focus will be on the administrative preparations for the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy, which Pakistan will host between February and March next year.

According to the PCB Constitution of 2014, the Chairman has the authority to delegate his powers, allowing Younis to make all team-related decisions.
