Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram expressed his concerns over the persistent struggle with form that Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman has been facing for the past month and a half.

While speaking on a local news channel, Akram stated that he observed Zaman's performance closely in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023, where he was consistently struggling.

“Fakhar Zaman has been out of form since the past month and a half. He was with me in LPL as well, there too he struggled,” Akram said.

Akram highlighted the need for the left-handed opener to focus on refining his technique and basics to regain his lost form. He also stressed the importance of getting back to the basics and spending time middling the ball before attempting big shots.

“When you are out of form, the only way to improve things is by working on your technique and basics. You need to go out and middle a few balls before trying to hit big shots. Going after the bowling straight away won’t help you at all. I think this is the problem with Fakhar Zaman,” he concluded.

Fakhar Zaman, known for his explosive batting style, has been a vital asset for Pakistan. However, a recent dip in form has raised concerns. The left-handed opener only could score 22 runs off 24 balls in the World Cup warm-up match against Australia.

Pakistan is set to begin their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on October 6 in Hyderabad.
