Legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram has opened up about speedster Hasan Ali’s poor form in the ongoing T20 World Cup.

Hasan Ali has conceded runs at an economy rate of 9.81, in three matches so far, while picking up three wickets.

Akram believes that Pakistan should back Hasan Ali, and help him regain form, rather than dropping him for rookie pacer Mohammad Wasim Jnr.

“If I’m captain of the Pakistan team and my side is peaking apart from one player, who has conceded runs in one or two matches, my strategy would be to help that player regain his form and confidence and that can only be done by playing matches,” said Akram on A Sports.

“Mohammad Wasim will get many chances to play for Pakistan in the future, no doubt he is a talented cricket, but I will stick with Hasan Ali,” he added.

Pakistan have raced to three wins in as many games starting with a resounding ten-wicket opening fixture victory over arch-rivals India followed by New Zealand and Afghanistan. They need another win to qualify for the semi-finals from Group 2 of the Super 12 stage.

Pakistan will face Namibia in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
