Wasim Jr. will be available for KP's next match on March 10 against Northern in Islamabad
Emerging bowling all-rounder Mohammad Wasim Jr has been released from the Test squad to join the ongoing Pakistan Cup.
The right-arm pacer will continue in the domestic tournament and will feature for defending champions Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Mohammad Wasim Jr. was added to the list of reserve players for the historic Pakistan-Australia series after multiple injuries and covid disturbed the initial squad of the Shaheens.
First choice pacers Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf were ruled out due to injury for the first Test in Rawalpindi while Haris Rauf was unavailable due to a positive Covid-19 before the match.
Wasim Jr. was likely to make his Test debut but all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed was preferred in the final XI over the youngster.
The bowling all-rounder has had an impressive run ever since his debut in 2021 and has grasped the selectors' attention with his clean striking capability in the death overs and ability to bowl at different stages of the game.
Wasim Jr. will be available for KP's next match on March 10 against Northern in Islamabad.
