Watch: Azam Khan dominates Mohammad Amir in CPL 2023 faceoff

Pakistan's wicket-keeper batter, Azam Khan, who is representing Guyana Amazon, unleashed his aggressive batting style, dominating Mohammad Amir as he showcased his power-hitting skills in today's CPL 2023 Qualifier 2 match.

After being asked to bat first, the Amazon team faced substantial challenges right from the start. They suffered early setbacks, losing three wickets and reaching a total of 92 runs in just 12.3 overs, which included the pivotal wicket of Saim Ayub (20), a consistent performer showcasing exceptional batting form.

Azam Khan stepped up and showcased an aggressive batting approach from the very beginning. Utilizing his power-hitting skills, he made a significant impact by scoring an impressive 54 runs off just 27 balls. This impressive innings featured five boundaries and four substantial sixes, resulting in a remarkable strike rate of 200.00.

The 25-year-old batsman showed no hesitation in taking on his compatriot, Mohammad Amir. 

In the 19th over of the game, Azam confidently struck three consecutive boundaries(6,4,6), exerting pressure on the opposing team to achieve a challenging total of 182 runs, having lost six wickets in the initial innings.

During the chase, the Jamaica Tallawahs team experienced a rapid succession of wicket losses, ultimately being dismissed for 101 runs in 15.2 overs.

Imad Wasim delivered an impressive batting performance, finishing unbeaten with 43 runs from 33 balls, which included five boundaries and one six, showcasing a strike rate of 130.30. 

However, despite his efforts, his performance wasn't enough as his team not only suffered a loss in the match but also got eliminated from the tournament.

Hence, Azam Khan was rightfully awarded the 'Man of the Match' for his outstanding match-winning innings, playing a pivotal role in guiding his team to victory and securing a spot in the final of the CPL 2023.
