This is not Babar’s first Umrah during Ramadan
Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has performed Umrah and was seen attending iftar at Masjid Al Haram in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
A video shared on Instagram by his brother, Safeer Azam, showed Babar sitting near the Kaaba and enjoying a date. The caption of the video simply read, "Alhamdulillah."
Safeer also posted multiple pictures with Babar, using the hashtag "Umrah 2025," confirming that they are in Saudi Arabia for the pilgrimage.
This is not Babar’s first Umrah during Ramadan. He had also visited Makkah and Medina for Umrah in 2024.
Meanwhile, Babar's cricket performance has been under scrutiny due to his inconsistent form in the 50-over format. Since scoring 151 runs against Nepal in the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2023, he has struggled for consistency.
After being promoted to the opening position in the recent tri-nation ODI series and the Champions Trophy, he could not deliver big performances. His scores in five innings were 10, 23, 29, 64, and 23.
It is worth noting that Pakistan is set to tour New Zealand for a white-ball series from March 16 to April 5. The tour includes five T20Is and three ODIs. The squad for the series was recently announced, featuring some key changes.
Salman Ali Agha has replaced Mohammad Rizwan as Pakistan’s T20I captain. Several senior players, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah, have been left out of the T20I squad. Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf are also not included in the ODI squad.
