This victory is Bangladesh's first-ever Test series win against Pakistan, ending a 12-match winless streak
Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has shared a heartwarming photo on social media, showing himself asleep beside the coveted trophy. This touching gesture follows his team’s historic victory in their Test series against Pakistan, a first for Bangladesh.
The triumph was secured on Tuesday when Bangladesh clinched the second Test by six wickets in Rawalpindi, completing a remarkable 2-0 whitewash. The series began with a commanding 10-wicket win in the first Test, underscoring Bangladesh’s dominance throughout.
This victory not only marks Bangladesh's first-ever Test series win against Pakistan but also breaks a 12-match winless streak against the national team.
The emotional moment was captured in a photograph shared by Shanto on his Facebook page, accompanied by the simple yet profound caption, "Good morning."
In his post-match comments, Shanto singled out Mehidy Hasan Miraz for special praise, highlighting his all-round performance as key to the series win. Miraz's exceptional bowling, including a five-wicket haul in challenging conditions, earned particular admiration from Shanto. He also stressed the importance of senior players Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan in the upcoming series against India.
“The next series is very important and this win gives us a lot of confidence. We have a lot of experience in Mushi and Shakib, and they will be important in India. (On Miraz) The way he bowled and took 5 wickets in these conditions is very impressive, and hope he can do the same against India,” Shanto said.
Looking ahead, Bangladesh will face India in their next Test series, starting September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. With Bangladesh yet to secure a Test win against India—having lost 11 out of 13 matches, with two ending in a draw—the team will be eager to capitalize on their recent success and make a strong statement.
