Pakistan lost a heartbreaking game to Zimbabwe in their second match of the T20 World Cup on Thursday at the Optus Stadium. Despite holding Zimbabwe to a low score of 130/8, Babar Azam's side fell one run short of the mark. This was Pakistan's second loss in the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup, which means they will not only have to win all of their remaining matches but also hope that the results of other matches in the group go their way.

Except for Shan Masood's 44, no other Pakistan batter stepped up in the game, and it came down to Shaheen Afridi scoring three runs off the last ball to win the game for Pakistan. Afridi struck the delivery towards mid-on and did everything he could to take the first run, but as the Pakistan bowler rushed for a second, he was seen struggling to take the second run.

Earlier, Pakistan's opening order of Babar and Mohammad Rizwan failed to deliver for the second time in a row, exposing their comparatively weak middle order early in the game. Rizwan was removed on 14 off 17 deliveries, while Babar scored four.

Pakistan had previously suffered a four-wicket defeat against the arch-rivals India in their opening game of the T20 World Cup. The team will face the Netherlands later this Sunday to stay in the tournament. On the same day, India plays second-placed South Africa in a vital Group 2 match.

India now leads the group with four points after two matches, while the Proteas are second with three points courtesy of a canceled game against Zimbabwe. Pakistan, meanwhile, is fifth, barely ahead of the Netherlands, due to a higher Net Run Rate (NRR).
