Pakistan's white-ball captain Babar Azam put in a valiant performance but was unable to prevent a crushing defeat for the Stallions against the Markhors in their second Champions Cup match on Sunday. Azam scored a solid 45 from 44 balls, but his efforts were overshadowed as the Stallions fell short in their chase of 232, eventually collapsing for just 105 in 23.4 overs.

Azam’s contribution was marked by a confident innings, reminiscent of his impressive 79-ball 76 in their previous match against the Lions, which saw the Stallions secure a massive 133-run victory.

However, the momentum was not in their favor this time. As the right-hand batter walked back to the dressing room, a notable exodus of fans from the stadium was captured in a video that quickly went viral on social media, reflecting the disappointment of the crowd.

The Markhors' success was largely due to the outstanding performance of leg-spinner Zahid Mahmood. Mahmood delivered an exceptional spell, claiming 5 wickets for just 18 runs from his 4.4 overs.

His wickets included key dismissals of Babar Azam, Mohammad Haris, Mehran Mumtaz, Haris Rauf, and Abrar Ahmed. Complementing Mahmood’s performance, Naseem Shah took three wickets, and Agha Salman contributed with two.

Earlier in the match, Iftikhar Ahmed and Agha Salman provided the backbone for the Markhors' innings, both scoring half-centuries to push their total to 231 in 45 overs. The Stallions struggled against the Markhors’ bowlers, with only Shan Masood joining Azam in double figures, as the rest of the lineup faltered under pressure.
