Haider Ali is playing for Derbyshire in division two of the County Championship. The team was in a strong position at 179-3 against Durham when Haider came to the crease.

After scoring 38 runs, Haider attempted a powerful sweep shot against Durham's captain, Scott Borthwick. However, he missed the ball by some margin, and the fielding side made an lbw appeal. While the standing umpire dismissed the appeal, Haider seemed distracted and continued to look past the fine leg, where he had hoped to place the shot.

Apparently, not being aware that the ball had dropped near the stumps after hitting his pad, Haider took a few steps down the wicket, looking towards Brooke Guest at the non-striker's end. However, Guest had already turned back, having no intention of attempting a risky single.

In that split second, Durham's wicketkeeper, Ollie Robinson, saw an opportunity and quickly grabbed it. Haider was far from the crease; Robinson picked the ball and removed the bails.

Despite Haider's desperate attempt to ground his bat, he couldn't return in time, resulting in an embarrassing run-out.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time Haider has been a victim of his own brain lapse. Previously in a T20 Vitality Blast match between Birmingham Bears and Derbyshire, the right-handed batsman after scoring 48 runs, charged down the wicket but missed the delivery from Danny Briggs. The wicketkeeper, Alex Davies, initially missed the stumping opportunity but managed to complete it on the second attempt as the batter was stranded outside his crease.
