WATCH: Virat Kohli's heated clash with Australian debutant on Boxing Day Test

On the opening day of the Boxing Day Test between Australia and India, Virat Kohli came under fire for clashing with 19-year-old debutant Australian opener, Sam Konstas, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).  

Kohli attempted to unsettle the young batter with verbal taunts after Konstas played some remarkable shots against Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The situation escalated when Kohli confronted Konstas on the pitch, bumping into him during an over break and returning to challenge him further.  

Australian batter Usman Khawaja tried to diffuse the tension with a smile and a reassuring hand on Kohli's shoulder, while match officials eventually intervened to calm the situation.  

Despite the altercation, Sam Konstas remained composed and scored a confident half-century off 52 balls. He was eventually dismissed LBW by Ravindra Jadeja after a 60-run knock off 65 deliveries.  

Kohli’s behavior was widely criticized by fans and cricketing circles, with many expressing disappointment over the senior batter’s conduct.
