Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has expressed his desire to see Pakistan and India go head-to-head in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23.
Speaking to the ICC in an interview, Watson elaborated that he will be surprised if the arch-rivals don't clash heads in the final.
"You can never discount India and Pakistan, because they’ve got so many match winners, outside of their home countries as well. Those two, I’d be very surprised if they don’t come knocking on the door leading into the final," he said.
The talented all-rounder further talked about the current top-two ranked teams, Australia and South Africa, and added that both teams will pose a serious threat to other contenders including India and Pakistan.
India and Pakistan both are currently fourth and fifth respectively in the points table. Their road to the final is a difficult one but both teams possess the ability to push their way through the final.
The Men in Green are yet to play two more series in the competition including a two-game home series against New Zealand and three-match home series against England.
