Former South African fast bowler Wayne Parnell has revealed his all-time ODI XI, featuring some of the biggest names in cricket history — including Pakistan legends Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Shahid Afridi.

In an interview with CricTracker, Parnell, who recently won the World Championship of Legends with the South Africa Champions, selected a star-studded lineup led by former India captain MS Dhoni.

The 36-year-old chose batting icons Sachin Tendulkar and Hashim Amla to open the innings, with modern-day great Virat Kohli at number three. South Africa’s AB de Villiers and Australia’s Michael Hussey make up the middle order, known for their consistency and match-winning knocks.

In the all-rounder slot, Parnell picked former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi, famous for his explosive batting and wicket-taking leg-spin. Dhoni, besides leading the side, will also take up wicketkeeping duties.

The pace attack is spearheaded by the iconic Pakistani duo of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, alongside Australian speedster Brett Lee. Spin responsibilities go to Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan, supported by Afridi.

Wasim and Waqar, often regarded as one of the most fearsome fast-bowling pairs in history, dominated ODI cricket with their blistering pace, deadly yorkers, and remarkable swing. Wasim remains the second-highest wicket-taker in ODI history with 502 wickets in 356 matches, while Waqar sits third with 416 wickets in 262 matches. Both also enjoyed stellar Test careers, with Wasim taking 414 wickets in 104 matches and Waqar claiming 373 wickets in 87 matches.
