West Indies triumphed over South Africa by six wickets in the ninth match of the World Championship of Legends 2024 held at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.

The Windies successfully chased a 175-run target, reaching it in the final over while losing only four wickets. This victory marked West Indies' first win in three games, whereas South Africa continued their losing streak.

Chris Gayle, reminiscent of his prime, delivered a stunning performance with a 40-ball 70, playing a pivotal role in the successful run chase.

Chadwick Walton also showcased his prowess, scoring 56 off 29 balls. On the South African side, Vernon Philander claimed two wickets, while Charl Langeveldt and Neil McKenzie each took one.

Earlier in the match, after being invited to bat first by the Men in Maroon, South Africa posted a total of 174 for five wickets.

Despite no batter reaching a half-century, notable contributions came from Ashwell Prince, who scored 46 off 35 balls, and Dane Vilas, who added a rapid 44 off 17 balls.

 For the West Indies, Jason Mohammed took two wickets, and Samuel Badree impressed with his economical spell of 1/13.
