Cricket West Indies (CWI) has named a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan, which will be held in Trinidad from August 8 to 12.
The West Indies have made just one change to the squad that toured the United Kingdom earlier this year. Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, who was rested for the recent T20I series, will continue to sit out in order to manage his workload. He has been replaced by Romario Shepherd, who returns to the ODI squad after missing the series against England and Ireland.
Head coach Daren Sammy said the series against Pakistan is an important step in their journey toward automatic qualification for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.
“Pakistan presents a different test and challenge as we continue our push for automatic qualification for the 2027 World Cup,” Sammy said.
“While qualifying is our immediate goal, maintaining a winning mentality and team cohesion is essential for long-term success," he added.
“The upcoming matches against teams like Pakistan, who are ranked higher, provide crucial opportunities to earn valuable ranking points to improve our standing ahead of the World Cup,” he concluded.
All three ODIs will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba on August 8, 10 and 12.
