West Indies record biggest ODI win over Pakistan in series decider by runs

West Indies created history on Tuesday by securing their first ODI series win over Pakistan in 34 years and recording their largest-ever victory margin against them in the format.

Playing at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, the Caribbean side sealed the three-match series 2-1 with a dominant performance, winning the deciding third ODI by a massive 202 runs. This broke their previous record against Pakistan — a 150-run victory at Christchurch in 2015.

The triumph ended a long run of 10 consecutive series defeats against Pakistan. The last time West Indies won an ODI series against them was in November 1991, when Richie Richardson’s side beat Imran Khan’s team 2-0, with one game ending in a tie.

In this series decider, West Indies batted first and posted a commanding 294 for 6 in their 50 overs. Captain Shai Hope led from the front with an unbeaten 120 off 94 balls, hitting 10 fours and five sixes. He shared a rapid 110-run stand with Justin Greaves, who smashed 43 off 24 balls. Evin Lewis (37) and Roston Chase (36) also chipped in with valuable runs.

Pakistan’s chase never got going. Their batting collapsed under relentless pressure and they were bowled out for just 92 in 29.2 overs. Salman Ali Agha top-scored with 30, while Mohammad Nawaz remained not out on 23. Hasan Nawaz made 13, but five batters — including skipper Mohammad Rizwan — were dismissed for ducks.

The emphatic victory was driven by West Indies’ all-round dominance, capping off a memorable series win that will be remembered as a landmark moment in their cricket history.
