West Indies women’s cricket team have arrived in Karachi on Wednesday to play three-match T20I series starting from January 31 in Southend Club.

Former World T20 champions return to Pakistan mark the resumption of women’s international cricket in the country.

Bangladesh was the last women’s team to visit the country as they played two T20Is and two ODIs in September 2015, whereas the Caribbean side last toured Pakistan was way back in 2004 for an ODI series.

Talking to the media at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, West Indies interim captain Merissa Aguilleira said the team is excited to visit Pakistan after 15 years.

“I am happy to see women's cricket in Pakistan improving,” she said. “The series will serve as a bonus, since we play Pakistan in next year's Women’s World T20 as well. Our team has the ability to win, however, it is not easy to play in the subcontinent.”

Following the T20 series, both sides will go head-to-head in three-match ODI series, which will begin in Dubai from February 7.
