The ICC Champions Trophy is set to commence on February 19 in Karachi, with all participating teams required to submit their preliminary squads by January 12.

According to Indian media reports, India will rely on a strong and experienced squad for the tournament. Despite inconsistent performances, captain Rohit Sharma is expected to retain his place, while Virat Kohli will also be in action. Additionally, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is likely to serve as the vice-captain.

Indian media further speculates that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli may feature in the upcoming ODI series against England. Although a review of India’s 3-1 loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be conducted, major changes to the team are unlikely.

An official from the Indian cricket board stated that the current focus is on the Champions Trophy, with efforts underway to form a strong combination for the tournament.

It is worth noting that England’s white-ball tour of India begins on January 22, with the first match of the three-match ODI series scheduled for February 6.

The final Indian squad for the England series and the Champions Trophy is expected to be announced in the coming days.
