As per BCCI regulations, a new Secretary must be appointed by January 15
The operations of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have slowed down after Jay Shah assumed his new role as Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). This transition has left the position of BCCI Secretary vacant, with no replacement appointed so far.
Jay Shah officially took charge as ICC Chairman on December 1. According to Indian media, no interim Secretary has been named to manage day-to-day affairs, causing delays in the board's operations. The BCCI Secretary's role is crucial for overseeing routine matters, and the absence of a replacement has led to disruptions.
Reports suggest that the search for Jay Shah's successor has encountered challenges. Two candidates are currently under consideration for the position:
1. Devajit Saikia, the BCCI Joint Secretary, and
2. Anil Patel, affiliated with the Gujarat Cricket Association.
As per BCCI regulations, a new Secretary must be appointed by January 15. Until then, the board's functioning remains hindered due to the lack of an authorized signatory for essential tasks.
