Shai Hope will continue as captain, with Brandon King serving as vice-captain
The West Indies have announced two changes to their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, starting December 8 in St Kitts and Nevis. This series marks another step in the team’s preparations for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in two years.
Spinner Hayden Walsh Jnr and young batter Jewel Andrew have been left out of the squad that recently secured a 2-1 series victory over England. Replacing them are all-rounder Justin Greaves and uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Amir Jangoo. Both players earned their spots following impressive performances in the recent Super50 domestic tournament, where they were the highest run-scorers.
Justin Greaves is expected to bring versatility with his ability to bat anywhere in the top six and contribute with the ball. Meanwhile, Jangoo’s strong domestic form has added depth to the West Indies' batting options.
Shai Hope will continue as captain, with Brandon King serving as vice-captain. The squad features a powerful fast-bowling attack led by Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, and Jayden Seales.
West Indies coach Daren Sammy emphasized the importance of this series in building a competitive team for the World Cup. “We continue to build towards the ICC Men’s 50-over World Cup, broadening our pool of players while focusing on winning series and maintaining momentum,” Sammy said.
Sammy expressed confidence in the newcomers. “Greaves brings genuine all-round ability, which is a welcome addition, while Jangoo adds flexibility to our batting unit with his recent form,” he added.
