Pakistan’s interim head coach Saqlain Mushtaq has stated that he will face complete responsibility for wins and losses going forward.
The 44-year-old, who replaced former head coach Misbahul Haq in a temporary capacity for the upcoming series against New Zealand, believed that the current crop of players in the Pakistan side were the best the country had to offer.
“The current team is based on the best players. Stepping down from their respective roles was a personal decision made by Misbahul Haq and Waqar Younis. Saying that they ran away is very wrong. We will have to play aggressive cricket against New Zealand without fearing defeat. We are currently focused on the upcoming series against New Zealand. We will think about the future of coaching later,” Mushtaq said.

“We will try to use examples of Pakistani legends rather than their Indian counterparts in order to boost our performances. The Indian cricket team is playing well and we should learn the good things from their performances. I will take complete responsibility whether the team does well or not. I have previously worked with all the current members of the Pakistan team. As a coach, every assignment is a challenge,” he concluded.
