As the IPL 2025 mega-auction approaches, the Mumbai Indians are eager to sign star spinner Rashid Khan, who has been a key player for the Gujarat Titans. While the Titans want to keep him, Mumbai has reportedly been in talks with Rashid about joining their team.

Rashid Khan has made a significant impact in the IPL over the last three seasons, taking 56 wickets in 45 matches. He played a crucial role in helping Gujarat win their first title in 2022 and finished as one of the top bowlers during their runner-up finish in 2023.

The Titans are likely to retain Rashid, along with captain Shubman Gill, as they know how valuable he is to their team. However, Rashid has strong ties with the Mumbai Indians, as he plays for several MI-owned teams around the world and has a good relationship with the franchise's owners. This connection leaves a small window of opportunity for him to consider moving to Mumbai.

Unfortunately for the Mumbai Indians, they don't have a trade window to bring Rashid in like they did with Hardik Pandya last year. The only way to secure his services is by persuading him to enter the auction, where competition will be fierce, with many franchises willing to pay a lot of money to sign him.

Additionally, the Mumbai Indians are looking to retain several of their top players, including Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav. This could limit their budget, as they would need to set aside at least INR 75 crore to keep these players.

Another option for the Mumbai Indians could be to pursue Rashid through a trade window ahead of IPL 2026. They had tried to acquire him before IPL 2023 but were unsuccessful. However, this avenue may still be worth considering in the future.
