In addition to the reprimand, Reddy received one demerit point on her disciplinary record
India's fast bowler Arundhati Reddy has received a reprimand from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching its Code of Conduct during the Women's T20 World Cup 2024.
The ICC's statement explains that Reddy breached Level 1, Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which refers to “using language, actions or gestures that could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon their dismissal.”
The incident occurred in the final over of the first innings when Pakistan was batting. After dismissing Nida Dar, Reddy gestured toward the dugout, which led to the violation.
In addition to the reprimand, Reddy received one demerit point on her disciplinary record. This marks her first offence in a 24-month period.
The charge was brought by on-field umpires Eloise Seridan and Lauren Agenbag, third umpire Jacquline Williams, and fourth umpire Claire Polosak. Reddy accepted both the charge and the sanctions proposed by Shandre Fritz, a member of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees.
According to the ICC, "Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50% of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points."
