ICC announce match officials for Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 semi-finals

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the match officials for the upcoming semi-finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Four experienced umpires – Nimali Perera, Jacquline Williams, Lauren Agenbag, and Claire Polosak – will take charge of the crucial games.

Perera and Williams will oversee the first semi-final between defending champions Australia and South Africa, set to take place in Dubai on October 17. Perera, who officiated last year’s semi-final between India and Australia, has already umpired two of South Africa’s group stage matches. Williams has been in the middle for three of South Africa’s games so far in the tournament. They will be supported by third umpire Anna Harris, fourth umpire Kim Cotton, and match referee Michell Pereira.

In the second semi-final, West Indies will face New Zealand in Sharjah on October 18. The officiating umpires for this match will be Lauren Agenbag and Claire Polosak. Agenbag, aged 28, became the youngest umpire to officiate in a Cricket World Cup final during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022. Both she and Polosak have umpired four group-stage matches in this tournament. Polosak will be officiating her 63rd career WT20I as an on-field umpire. Eloise Sheridan will serve as the third umpire, with Vrinda Rathi as the fourth umpire and GS Lakshmi as the match referee.

The first semi-final will see Australia, the reigning champions, aiming to continue their dominance as they face South Africa. Australia will look to put up another solid performance as they target their sixth Women’s T20 World Cup title.
