Former cricketer Muhammad Amir has applauded Pakistan's skipper, Babar Azam after Pakistan registered a resounding victory in Cricket World Cup 2023 against Bangladesh on Tuesday.

While talking on a local news channel, Amir lauded Babar's willingness to take calculated risks and employ his feet effectively to counter the spin bowlers, signaling a significant shift in his playing style.

“At least he was trying. What I liked about it is that he was using his feet against spinners today,” Amir said.

Amir acknowledged that there may have been some setbacks, but Babar has emerged from his defensive tendencies.

“There might be a few failures like this, but it's good that he's come out of the (defensive) shell,” he further added.

Babar scored only nine runs against Bangladesh and was dismissed by Mehidy Hasan. He has scored a total of 216 runs, including three half-centuries, at an average of 30.85.
