England and Australia now share the top spot in the WTC standings, each with 12 points and a 100% PCT
The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle is off to an exciting start, with England and Australia leading the standings after impressive victories in their respective opening matches.
Australia, the runners-up of the previous WTC cycle, began their campaign with a dominant performance against the West Indies. Pat Cummins and his men secured a 159-run win on June 27, earning 12 crucial points and a perfect 100% points percentage (PCT).
England also made a strong start to their WTC 2025-27 journey with one of their finest Test chases in history. In the opening match of their five-Test home series against India at Headingley, they successfully chased down a target of 371 runs to win by five wickets. Ben Duckett led the way with a brilliant 149, while Joe Root remained unbeaten on 53 to guide the team home in the final session.
With both teams winning their opening matches, England and Australia now share the top spot in the WTC standings, each with 12 points and a 100% PCT.
Sri Lanka currently sit third on the table with 16 points from two matches and a 66.67% PCT. After drawing their opening Test against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka bounced back strongly in the second match, registering a comprehensive innings-and-78-run win.
Bangladesh, despite showing some resistance in the first Test, fell to fourth with 4 points and a PCT of 16.67% following their heavy defeat to Sri Lanka.
India and the West Indies are at the bottom of the table after suffering opening losses. Both teams have zero points and a 0% PCT. India lost to England, while the West Indies were outplayed by Australia.
Meanwhile, Pakistan, South Africa, and New Zealand are yet to begin their WTC 2025-27 campaigns.
