Former cricketer Younis Khan is likely to get coaching responsibilities within Pakistan's junior cricket setup, with a primary focus on nurturing and honing emerging talent.

According to sources, following a recent meeting with Zaka Ashraf, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, it was agreed that Younis would be responsible for mentoring and developing the junior talent. Much akin to Mohammad Hafeez's responsibilities with the senior team, Younis Khan is set to oversee all facets related to junior cricket.

The finalization of the contract is currently pending. This is contingent upon the return of both Younis Khan and Zaka Ashraf from their respective trips to Dubai and India.

Meanwhile, the PCB have appointed Sohail Tanvir as head of the junior selection committee. His first assignment as chairperson of the junior selection committee will be the selection of the Pakistan U19 squad for the 2023 ACC U19 Asia Cup scheduled to be held between 8 and 17 December in UAE.

Pakistan U19 will later take part in the ICC U19 World Cup from 13 January to 4 February in Sri Lanka.
