Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has rated Rohit Sharma as a better captain than Babar Azam because of his experience.

The 35-year-old Rohit was named captain of Team India after a horrible campaign in 2021 T20 World Cup. India enjoyed success at both, home and abroad; the side defeated New Zealand, West Indies, and Sri Lanka in India under Rohit, and then went on to defeat England and West Indies at their soil too

Younis, Pakistan's leading run-scorer in Test cricket, thinks Rohit holds an edge over Babar in terms of captaincy in the shortest format of the game.

“We all know how crucial Rohit and Babar are when it comes to scoring big runs for their teams and the importance they carry in terms of putting up performances of significance," Younis told Telegraph India.

“But, captaincy-wise, Rohit has an edge over Babar because he has had a longer period as a senior Team India member and played under good captains as well. So that experience bodes well for Rohit,” he said.

Sharma has been given charge of the national team at the start of 2021 but has proved his mettle winning five IPL trophies for Mumbai Indians as captain. He also recently became the 1st captain to win 14 T20Is in a row.

Pakistan is set to lock horns with India in a Group A encounter on August 28 at Dubai International Stadium.

The last time these two teams met in the T20 World Cup 2021, where Pakistan comfortably beat India by 10 wickets chasing 152.
