Former Pakistan batsman Younis Khan has officially congratulated Joe Root and welcomed him to the 10,000 Test runs club.

Joe Root reached the milestone after he scored a magnificent century to lead England to a 5-wicket victory against New Zealand.

Root, who scored 115 runs off 170 deliveries, become only the second English batsman to achieve this feat after former England captain Sir Alastair Cook. Both players reached the 10,000 runs mark at exactly the same age as well.

Sharing his appreciation, Younis Khan welcomed the Englishman to the club on Twitter.

"A remarkable achievement from a remarkable player. To achieve such a huge milestone in such a short time and young age is truly astonishing. Welcome to the club, champ Joe Root," Younis wrote.
