Zimbabwe clinched a dramatic last-ball victory against Afghanistan in the opening match of the three-match T20I series.
Afghanistan, opting to bat first after winning the toss, posted 144/6 in their 20 overs. Karim Janat was the standout performer, scoring 54 runs off 49 balls with five boundaries.
In response, Zimbabwe chased down the 145-run target on the final delivery of the match. Opening batter Brian Bennett anchored the innings with a steady 49 off 49 balls, including five fours.
Wellington Masakadza added six runs from two balls, while Tashinga Musekiwa sealed the win with a run on the last delivery, scoring 16 vital runs. A costly last over from Azmatullah Omarzai, who conceded 11 runs in the last over, proved pivotal for Zimbabwe’s chase.
The next match in the series is scheduled for tomorrow, while the final T20I will be played on December 14 in Harare. Following the T20Is, the two sides will face off in a three-match ODI series and two Test matches.
