A left-hand opening batsman and useful medium-pace bowler, he toured England in 1962 where he was, bewilderingly, sparingly used. By the time he was brought into the side for the Nottingham Test he was out of form and he failed to impress. That was his only opportunity. He continued to play with success in domestic cricket, and in 1969-70, playing for Karachi Whites against Khairpur, he became the first Pakistani to take ten wickets in an innings.
