Pakistan's emerging pacer Shahnawaz Dahani has paid tribute to Indian legend, MS Dhoni, on his 41st birthday. 

The 23-year-old is a big fan of the former Indian captain and had the opportunity to meet him during Pakistan's clash against India at the T20 World Cup.

Dahani penned his wish by hailing Dhoni's legacy and requested him to play a few more years.

"To one of the all times great entertainer & finisher, an inspiration and role model, I wish you a happy birthday sir," Dhani tweeted.

"And sir You are still young & fit enough to play cricket, so please keep entertaining us for atleast few more years." he added.

It must be noted that Dhoni went on to represent India in 350 ODIs and amassed 10,773 runs at an average of 50.58, including ten hundreds and 73 fifties. 

He also featured in 90 Tests, scoring 4,876 runs at an average of 38.09, including six centuries, a double hundred and 33 fifties. In 98 T20Is, he scored 1617 runs at a strike rate of 126.13, including two fifties.

After India's defeat in the 2019 World Cup semifinal, Dhoni was never seen again in India colours; but he continues to lead Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

He announced his international retirement in 2020.
