Fans beg Alastair Cook to come out of retirement, scores his 73rd FC ton

Former England captain Alastair Cook called time on his international career in 2018 and since he has signed off, England cricket has undergone a complete overhaul.

The left-handed opening batter has continued his remarkable form long after his retirement and has propelled Essex, the team he is currently representing, to another level.

Cook scored his 73rd First-Class century on Tuesday against Gloucestershire, cementing his reputation as "Man Machine."

This year, the elegant batsman has four centuries and one half-century with a conversion rate of 80 percent.

The left-hander has amassed 25,499 First-Class runs at an average of 47.30 including 73 centuries and 118 half-centuries.

"Beg him to come out of retirement", wrote one fan following Cook's hundred. "Please come out of retirement. Your country needs you," added another.

"One last dance with England, I beg", another supporter wrote. While another fan joked: "70th FC 100. This lad looks decent, could he get England out of the mire?"
