Multan Sultan’s co-owner Ali Tareen’s company ‘Grassroots Cricket’ is set to sponsor Southern Punjab Cricket Association team.
According to details, the sponsorship agreement will be formally finalised in a few days. A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) representative confirmed that ‘Grassroots Cricket’ has shown interest in sponsoring the Southern Punjab Cricket Association team. After working out a few more details, the sponsorship deal will be officially announced. The representative also added that the board is currently in talks with few more companies regarding sponsoring the other Cricket Associations.
During the ongoing National T20 Cup in Multan, Southern Punjab players were already sporting ‘Grassroots Cricket’, ‘Grassroots Cricket Magazine’ and ‘Tareen Sports Academy’ logos on their kits.

According to sources, the Shan Masood-led unit, which currently sits at the bottom of the table after losing their first four games, is not being managed properly which is partly due to one of the officials of the Sultans franchise meddling in their affairs.
The growing influence of the aforementioned official, mainly through WhatsApp, has negatively impacted the side while also, more or less, turning them into Sultans’ B-team.
It must be noted that Masood also leads the Sultans in PSL, while Southern Punjab’s head coach, Abdul Rehman, is also associated with the franchise. Majority of the players in the squad also play for Sultans.
