Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee, Najam Sethi, announced that Bismah Maroof, the skipper of the Pakistan women's cricket team, has decided to resign from her position as captain.

Bismah has decided to allow a younger player to take on the captaincy role.

Sethi expressed his acceptance of Bismah's resignation via a tweet and confirmed that she will continue to contribute to the team's success as a normal player, bringing pride to her country.

During her captaincy, Pakistan women's team won 27 out of 62 T20Is and 16 out of 34 ODIs. Bismah has been a valuable all-rounder for Pakistan, batting left-handed and bowling right-arm leg break. 

She recently became the highest run-scorer for the Pakistani women's cricket team in both ODI and T20I formats, setting a new record in June 2022.

In her remarkable 17-year-long cricket career, Bismah scored 3110 runs in 124 ODIs at an average of 30.2. Similarly, in T20Is, she has scored 2658 runs in 132 games at an average of 27.1.
