A sensational opening partnership between Sharjeel Khan and Khurram Manzoor powered Sindh to victory over Central Punjab, during the ongoing National T20 Cup in Multan.
Chasing a target of 155 runs, Sharjeel and Manzoor formed a 134-run partnership to bat Central Punjab out of the match.
Sharjeel top-scored with 77 runs off 56 balls, with the help of nine fours and two sixes. Meanwhile, Manzoor scored 50 runs off 46 balls.
The openers departed in the space of three deliveries but captain Sarfaraz Ahmed (7*) and middle-order batsman Azam Khan (13) knocked off the remaining runs with relative ease.
Batting first, after winning the toss, Central Punjab posted 154/7 after a disciplined bowling effort by Sindh.
The Saad Naseem-led unit were reduced to 12/2 after openers Kamran Akmal (10) and Rizwan Hussian (1) departed in quick succession.
Abid Ali played a decent knock of 58 runs from 41 balls but the Sindh bowlers kept their side in control by picking up wickets at regular intervals.
Cameos from Qasim Akram, 21 off 10, and Usman Qadir, 20 off 10, lower down the order helped Central Punjab post a competitive total on the board.
For Sindh, pacer Sohail Khan was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/31 in four overs. Left-arm spinner Mohammad Asghar claimed two wickets and conceded 23 runs.
