Bets placed online in Great Britain during National T20 Cup matches

Bets were placed online in Great Britain during the ongoing National T20 Cup, in Multan, after the matches were broadcasted live on television and streamed on YouTube.

According to details, betting on domestic matches is uncommon outside Pakistan, especially when the Indian Premier League (IPL) is also taking place, but surprisingly a British website is accepting bets during the T20 tournament — which started on September 30.

It must be noted that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches were also live streamed on a betting website, which was done by PCB’s media partner without taking permission from the board. When the issue was highlighted, the streaming was stopped and, later, PCB also terminated its contract with the company “following a series of breaches, including matters relating to payments”.

When PCB’s Director Media Samiul Hasan Burney was approached on the matter, he confirmed that betting of this form was illegal. He added that live streaming of matches on PCB’s official YouTube channel is delayed by six minutes, just like 2016 and 2017 editions of PSL.
